HOUSTON (AP) — Texas Rangers slugger Adolis García set a record for RBIs in a postseason series with 15 in the AL Championship Series and extended his home run streak to four games after going deep twice in Game 7 against the Houston Astros on Monday night. García stretched his RBI streak to six games with a single in the first inning of the pennant-deciding game. He's also the first player with RBIs in six straight games within a postseason series. Cruz had 13 RBIs for the Rangers in the 2011 ALCS against Detroit, which was the last time they went to the World Series. García has 20 RBIs in these playoffs, the most ever by a player before the start of the World Series.

Abreu was suspended Saturday by MLB senior vice president Michael Hill, a day after the incident. The reliever appealed, allowing him to pitch in Game 6, and the hearing was held Monday before John McHale Jr., a special assistant to baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred. He was pleased with the resolution since it allows him to pitch this postseason despite the suspension not being reduced. “That was kind of what I was hoping for when I didn’t use him in a down game two innings yesterday,” Baker said. HOUSTON (AP) — Houston reliever Bryan Abreu has appealed the two-game suspension he was given by Major League Baseball for what the league said was intentionally throwing at Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers during Game 5 of the AL Championship Series. Because of the appeal, Abreu will be eligible to pitch in Game 6 on Sunday night, when the Astros can advance to the World Series for a third straight season with a win. MLB said Saturday that all six umpires decided Abreu’s pitch was intentional. Abreu, who was also fined for the incident, is one of Houston's top relievers and has a 1.42 ERA in seven appearances this postseason. But the Rangers got some insurance from an RBI double by Garver with one out in the eighth off Abreu. Josh Sborz walked Alex Bregman to start the Houston eighth and struck out Alvarez before José Abreu singled with one out. Abreu singled on a grounder to right field before Tucker grounded into a force out that left him out at second and sent Alvarez to third.
